Surfers Against Sewage: Drowning In Plastic
We just wanted to share with you our experience at the 'Drowning in Plastic' event in Penzance on July 21, 2023. It was a real eye-opener, and we're stoked to be a part of the #EndPlasticPollution campaign.
So, picture this – the Jubilee Pool filled to the brim with plastic bottles. And get this, it's just the amount of plastic that Penzance uses in a single week! Can you believe it? This tiny town goes through a whopping 3 million bottles every year! It's like we're swimming in plastic, and that's not cool.
We're not pointing fingers at anyone, but big brands like Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Co need to step up. It's time they take the lead in making a change. We're talking about reusing and repairing stuff, and cutting down on waste. A circular system where we all pitch in to reduce plastic – that's what we need!
Props to @outofsink8 and @plasticfreepenzance – these guys are doing amazing work to reduce single-use plastic in Penzance. They made this event happen, and it's awesome to see the community coming together for a common cause.
And let's not forget about the volunteers. They collected and cleaned all the plastic used for the stunt from existing waste.. and the water was cold. Can you say dedication? They showed us that even small actions can make a big difference.
In conclusion, this event was a powerful statement toward the seriousness of the plastic problem. It's time for all of us, including the big brands, to take action.
We can all do our part to cut down on single-use plastic and protect our beautiful planet. So, let's be friendly to the environment and serious about reducing plastic waste.
