After a few years of lugging stock around the country in the back of a van — from trade shows to markets and pop-ups — we started exploring ways to take Ryde on the road (or water) that felt more aligned with our values.
Slower. Greener. A bit more imaginative.
So, we bought a narrowboat.
The vision (excuse the dodgy mock up) is to convert it into a floating version of our Ryde store — a travelling showroom-meets-workspace that could cruise the UK’s canal network. Think mobile retail space, content studio, and floating base for our small but mighty team.
The plan? To moor up near events, run towpath pop-ups, and meet customers in beautiful, unexpected places — all while reducing the constant back-and-forth and making our presence more sustainable and community-focused.
Early next year, we will begin renovating the boat. Stripping it back, repainting, and planning storage solutions for stock and signage. It's a work in progress, but one we are so excited about launching in early 2025 as part of Ryde’s growing presence at trade shows and lifestyle events.
